Tripping Thru the Archives

Ok, ok, ok. This is not Alabama and it's definitely not February, but I needed to post something today. The sky is grey and I don't have anything new in the camera that is dying to get out so I hit the archive folder on the ole PC. I am partial to flowers as well as purple and these fit the bill perfectly. I photographed these Lupine while driving to Mariposa Grove in Yosemite last May.

Housework Never Ends

The sun finally made an appearance in our neck of the woods. And with the sun came the opportunity to hang the gutters that have been lounging around the backyard for a few months. We have to hang some on another section of the roof, but that can wait till another sunny day.

Tulips From Home Depot

I had to run to HD today to pick up an outside gutter corner. While I was there, my eyes landed on these Tulips. If I had to pick a spring flower as my favorite, these would win the contest. With Georgia O'Keefe as my inspiration, I present to you " Striped Tulips"

Bird Island

Bird Island, Chattahoochee River just below City Mills Dam.
The Blue Heron nest in these trees year round. At meal-times they fly a short distance down river, just below the dam at the Eagle-Phenix mill for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's fun to watch them standing on the rocks fishing. Also, you can see how the flood waters have eroded the island. Let's hope those tree roots are good and strong. We wouldn't want the Heron to fly away.

The Window's Open But Nobody's Home

The old Phenix Regional Hospital. Overlooking Phenix City, this hopital was replaced with a brand new one on the west side of town about 5 years ago. I don't what or when they plan to do anything with this building. I imagine they will eventually knock it down.

In With the New

This is the front entrance of the new YMCA two days before opening day. Very different architecturally than the old building. It looked like they still had a lot of work to do on this day, but they opened up bright and early on February 1st. (This shot was taken two days before opening day.)
I'm excited because the building where I work is across the street and I can trip over to the Y any time I like to swim in the nice, new olympic-sized pool.
