Bibb Mills

In October 2008 the Bibb Mill burned to the ground. The original mill structure was constructed in 1898 and expanded around 1900. The owner tried to demolish the building in 2007 but was stopped by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation. Two weeks after the building was listed on the historic register it burned to the ground. I am not sure if they ever came to a conclusion about the cause of the fire. But with all the cotton dust in the building, it wouldn't take much.

The Bibb Mill founded a community within a community, but more about that tomorrow.

That's rather sad, all in all. Do you think "they" will try to restore it to its original state?

That's so sad. I would like to think it was a real accident.
