The Yellow Gate

Early Street or is it Sixth Street?
The pineapple on the door has long symbolized hospitality in the Americas.
According to the legend, a sea captain would spear a pineapple on a fence post outside his home to let his friends know of his safe return from sea. The pineapple was an invitation for them to visit, share his food and drink, and listen to tales of his voyage.

I didn't know that! How did a sea captain's symbol get to Phenix City? :-)

That's a cool door. And I didn't know that about pineapples.
