You Lookin' at Me ...

Image
***** ... takin' your picture. This is the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse in Daytona Beach. *****

My Front Porch

Image
***** My son pulled the rocking chair out of trash and we used left over paint to jazz it up. You can't have a front porch in the south without a rocking chair or two.  *****

City Mills Dam

Image
***** City Mills Dam. On the Alabama side of the river you can see the new retaining wall along with the existing retaining wall. This is one of the two dams that will be removed as part of the river restoration project.  *****

River Walk - West Trail

Image
***** In case you forget which side of the river you are on.  *****

Vintage Polaroid ...

Image
***** ... from a new digital photo. I found this great little polaroid freeware. Here's the link to Poladroid if your interested in giving it a try. The photos even develop slowly while you watch : ) Just like the original Poloroid photos. *****

Obsessed with Bridges

Image
***** I'm beginning to feel like I have an obsession, or at least OCD. TGIF! *****

Walk by the Fountain

Image
***** Fountain at the TSYS Campus. I can't believe I missed the light near the tree. I did boost the color a bit.  *****

Legend of the Armadillo

Image
***** Another armadillo on the river walk. *****

Time for Another Bridge Update

Image
***** Work on the bridge continues to move forward at a regular pace. I believe they have placed a safety rail to keep the workers from taking a plunge. At least I hope that is what that ugly metal rail is. *****

Empty Smoking Tent

Image
***** I went out for a walk and was surprised to see the empty smoking tent. There is always at least one person here filling their lungs with tobacco smoke; rain or shine. Strange. *****

Seen Around Town

Image
***** Happy Sunday!

13th Street Bridge with Lights

Image
***** I don't think I have shown the E&P mill buildings or the 13th Bridge from this angle before. I am a block up at the 14th Street. It is early enough in the morning, that the lights are still on and I am probably late for work. *****

The Mott House

Image
***** From the Alabama side of the river looking east with the sun rising between the office building and the parking   deck. The water is low these days giving us a good idea of what the river will look like, or used to look back in the day before the dams were constructed.  *****

Mysterious Mushrooms

Surprise in the Sit-y

Image
***** Taken from the 3rd (or maybe 4th) level of the CB&T parking garage. I did not realize that the upper floors of this building had been converted to loft apartments. I wonder if it is noise being almost in the parking deck...and what about fuel fumes?  *****

Back to the River

Image
***** I grabbed my camera on my way out the door and stopped by the river for a few minutes before heading to work. The sun was rising, the sky was blue, and dappled with white, fluffy clouds. The humidity was low. The water is low too because they are controlling the flow these days with all the work that is going on. In about a year this view will change forever. I am curious to see what it will look like then. *****

Where Purple Grass Grows

Image
***** Post post comment: this foto was taken in Flagler Beach, FL on the Atlantic coast. This is the view from the pirate house I showed you a couple of days ago. *****

The Tin Garden

Image
***** Happy Sunday! *****

Pirate House by the Sea

Image
***** On A1A in Flagler Beach, FL. We just had to stop and take a few shots.  With views of the Atlantic Ocean that will never be blocked by high-rise condos or hotels. *****

Patterson by the Boat Load

Image
***** Looking for something to read at Judy Bug Books.  I was blurry-eyed trying to find something by Patterson that I haven't read. I did walk out with a book by Nora Roberts writing as JD Robb...Origins in Death. *****

Phenix City Man Harvests 46 Pound Watermelon

Image
***** Yup, 46 pounds. We haven't cracked it open yet.  Online research said to let it rest after picking and cool off.  We plan to crack it open tonight.  ***** *****

Mojolica Ceramics from Mexico

Image
***** I like the brightly-colored Mojilica-ware from Mexico, but the price on this guy, and other pieces, made me crabby. *****

Race Track at Race Track

Image
***** I am pulling from the archives today, because I have been too lazy, it's been too hot outside to go in search of a daily photo. We found this mini-race way atop the Race Track gas station on Ocala, FL (I think).  Those cars are to scale. *****

Elvis Fans are Everywhere

Image
***** On August 16, it will be 34 years since Elvis passed away, but time has not diminished the love his fans still have for him. I caught this homage to Elvis on the road to Cocoa Beach a few weeks ago.  Are you Elvis Yay or Nay? *****

Now, where did I leave my flip flops?

Image
***** Below the falls in Chewacla State Park, Auburn, AL. *****

The New Clock

Image
***** As part of the street-scaping project in Phenix City, they added a town clock. I like it, but apparently some members of the community think the money could have been better spent on other things. What those other things are I have no idea. Like I said, I like the clock. *****

The [Temporary] End of the Riverwalk

Image
***** If you walk past the Eagle and Phenix Mill on the Columbus-side of the river, you will eventually arrive at this fence. The end is only temporary. You can see the 14th Street bridge in the background, which is currently undergoing some changes. When the bridge is complete, they will complete the connection.  For right now, this is it. Be patient. *****

Return of the Yellow Armadillo

Image
***** This is the third occasion of a yellow armadillo siting. I am still unable to identify the purpose. Looking for number 4. *****

The Door's Open

Image
***** Around the corner from my son's house. The door needs a little work, but the house is empty and for sale.   *****

Nature Finds a Way

Busy Day at the River

Image
***** I imagine we will see more scenes like this as the river project proceeds.  *****
