Born in Griffin, Georgia, George grew up on Sea Island, Georgia where he developed his love of landscape, the sea and boating. He traveled extensively in Europe at an early age absorbing the art and culture of Italy and amassing an impressive portfolio of images that he captured with his cameras.
He was educated at Darlington Academy and went on to study at the Academia del Belle Arti in Florence, Italy. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Masters Degree in Print Making. He worked as a college professor for over 30 years at Columbus State University, teaching sculpture and photography, and as an artist in residence in Cortona, Italy through the University of Georgia.

That's one heck of a resume and I like the winding ways of this sculpture although I'm not sure what it represents - a tree, perhaps?
