dogwood52 week 13 - Creative; leading lines - final selection

Image
Well, I ended going in another direction for my leading lines photo submission. After some critiques from other challenge members, I went out and shot some more this morning, none of which I was happy with. So, my next option was to look back to earlier in the challenge to see what I had. With my final selection, I remember thinking that this would work for 'leading lines'. Both of these shots, my final selection and the runner-up photo, were taken in January 2018.

dogwood52 week 13 - Creative; Leading lines - initial ideas

Image
I have been procrastinating on this one. I wanted to go down to the river, lots of leading lines there, but the weather has been so funky that I didn't go out. Weather was better today, but there are marches in uptown for the March for our Lives and I wanted to avoid the crowds. Traffic is always such a hot mess down there. I stayed around home and they all look pretty green. I still have to select my favorite for my submission, and I may even come up with something else by posting time tomorrow.

Artistic: Still Life

A corner in my studio. I pick up and put down projects so I have lots of 'stuff'. Write now I am working on my photography, so I guess the crocheting, painting, and other pastimes will take a back seat for a while. That's ok. I will get back to them when inspiration strikes.  ***** This is a challenge photo from dogwood 2017

dogwood2 week 12 Technical; Macro

Image
I typically like macro photography, but because of the season, there are not may flowers blooming yet so I photographed this Chris Thorn plant that my son gave me for Christmas. It seems to be just a bit out of focus, but it might just be my eyes. They have been bothering me lately with all the tree pollen in the air.  *****

Landscape: Traditional landscape

I never tire of taking photos of the river. It is always here, but never the same.  ***** I am working thru the challenge photos for dogwood 2016 and 2017.

dogwood52 week 11 - Composition; Negative Space

Image
As I look at this photo now, I see what I could have done to make it better, such as move the chairs to the right of the frame to balance the window on the left. Also, put the two chairs together on the right and the single on the left. I may have to shoot this composition again.  *****

dogwood52 week 10 - Vision; Selective Color

Image
This was an interesting challenge because I don't have experience with photoshop. I always found it too much work. But the only way to get selective color was to use a similar software. I heard about gimp so I thought I would give it a try. It's free so that was a big plus. I still have a big learning curve to use it, but for this challenge it worked pretty well.
